The power of absorption of a diaper depends on the number and quality of the absorbent(insert) used in the diaper. A diaper with only one absorbent can last for 2 hours. However, a diaper with a good absorbent could handle up to 4 hours. Admittedly, the usage time of each diaper also depends on the amount of urine excreted by the baby. We can use cloth diapers for 6 hrs without any leak by choosing the right insert. Though the diapers can keep the baby wet-free for more hours, we recommend you to change the diaper every 2-3 hours for hygiene.
You can use cloth diapers for 6 hours at night. AIO diaper together with an hemp insert is best suitable for your baby at night. 1. Choose highly absorbent fabrics like hemp, charcoal bamboo or microfiber for your night - time diaper 2. Add an extra layer of insert 3. Fit the diaper to your baby correctly. 4. You may have to play around a bit before you find a combination that works well for you and your baby.
How often you want to wash diapers and baby's age are variables that must be taken into account when you decide to buy cloth diapers. You require 4 to 6 diapers per day depending on your baby ' s wetting pattern
Modern reusable cloth diapers have a stay-dry lining on the inner layer of the cloth diaper.Stay-dry lining wicks the moisture from your baby ' s bottom, keeping their skin drier. This helps to prevent skin-irritation and rash
Bamboo Charcoal Pockets are best suited for highly sensitive babies
Lets assume you use 3 diapers in a day. The cost of one diaper is Rs 10. So 10*3=30. So in a day, the amount u spend on a disposable diaper is Rs 30. In a month it is, 30*30=900 Rs. So for 2 years it is, 900*24=21600 Rs and Rs 400 for diaper rash creams. So u spend Rs22000 for diapers But when compared to cloth diapers, lets assume you have 4 sets . So 599*4= Rs 2400 for 2 years. So you save around Rs 19600 , when you use cloth diapers. Now think moms, which is costly? Disposable or Cloth Diapers?
Prepping is making your diapers usable for your baby. There are two main reasons to prep your cloth diapers:
1)Make sure they are clean before putting them on your baby - Cloth diapers are worn against your baby's most sensitive areas, so we want to make sure they are clean when you put them on your baby and to remove any residual debris, dust, chemicals that might be on your diapers from manufacturing and shipping
2)For the diaper to become fully absorbent - Some fabrics actually become more absorbent the more times they are washed.Natural fibers such as cotton, hemp, and bamboo fabrics all retain some of their natural plant oils. Oils inhibit absorption, so it is important to remove the natural oils from the fabric to make the diapers functional So boil your natural fibre inserts for 10 mins,6-8 times for maximum absorption.
Prep natural fibers (COTTON/HEMP/BAMBOO) only with other natural fibers. Do not prep MICROFIBER/MICROFLEECE/SUEDECLOTH with natural fibers. When natural fibers are prepped, they release oils and waxes which would coat the microfiber/microfleece/suedecloth and make it repel instead of absorb. Once all items are prepped, they can be washed together. The suede cloth needs to be prepped to be absorbent, but because it is attached to the PUL outer, elastic and snaps, you cannot boil it.
Remove the poop first and rinse the cloth diaper twice. Soak in detergent for few mins and wash the cloth diaper normally. Occasional brushing can be done to wash out stains.
Each baby ' s wetting pattern differs, so you can judge the best insert for your baby only by trial and error method. I prefer hemp and microfiber together for my baby
Microfiber coupled with hemp is best for night time diapers
Hemp and Bamboo Charcoal are anti - bacterial and anti - allergic
